Help Us Save The Bees
Honey bees are an essential part of our agriculture and natural ecosystems. They provide critical pollination services for crops, fruit trees, wildflowers, and other native plants. In recent years, however, the local honey bee population has experienced significant decline.
One way to save the bees is to preserve safe spaces for bees to feed and nest. We have the space, but not the know-how.
We're raising $2,500 to host hives in our backyard
Our goal is to start hosting hives on our property in spring of 2027. We are selecting from a few reputable apiaries in our area for help. The funding will pay for:
- The hives, the stands, and related equipment
- Locally raised bees
- Medication and feed for colony health
- Professional inspection, colony management and training by certified beekeepers
- Honey extraction and bottling
You will be able to follow along in our blog and email with the creation and hive inspections. We aim to learn enough in the first year to be able to take it over on our own. And once we get honey (which may not be the first year) you may see them in our gift boxes but more than likely we will use them as prizes.
Your support is an investment in local environmental conservation and pollinator health. Thank you for helping us protect the bees and our effort to conserve an important component of our local ecosystem.
